Chris Sutton has been blown away by what he has seen of new Celtic signing Timothy Weah since he arrived, branding him as a “breath of fresh air”.

Weah was signed alongside the likes of Oliver Burke in the January transfer window, and has scored three goals in the six appearances he has made for the Hoops so far, something which has led to Sutton saying that he is “streets ahead of most in Scotland”.

As much as the BT Sport pundit has been impressed by the 18-year-old ace, he says that he will now need to prove that he can step it up a level when Celtic face Valencia in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

“Timothy Weah has been a breath of fresh air. He seems to have the same attitude as his famous dad,” he wrote in his Daily Record column.

“He is full of energy and has a huge appetite, as well as a lot of skill. Even this early it’s clear he is streets ahead of most in Scotland but let’s see how he performs up a level.”

OPINION

It is rather easy to forget that Weah is still only 18 years of age, especially with the way Sutton has claimed that he is “streets ahead of most in Scotland”. This is quite the compliment to receive when he is still so young and inexperienced, and it no doubt bodes well for the future. If he can wow people like he has done in the short time he has been at Celtic, then who knows how good he will be when he hits his peak in a few years’ time. He definitely has the potential to go on and be a fantastic player, but who knows what club that will be at. However, he is with Celtic now, and there is no doubt that he will play a pivotal part in their quest for the title this season – after all, he is full of energy and has a lot of skill, just as Sutton has pointed out.
