Valencia boss Marcelino has tipped a number of the Celtic squad to go on and have big futures in the game as he picks out four potential game changers ahead of their Europa League clash at Parkhead.

The Hoops welcome their Spanish rivals for their round of 32 tie first leg as they look to progress in another cup competition, having defeated St Johnstone 5-0 in the Scottish Cup last time out.

Predicting a tough clash against Brendan Rodgers and his men, the Valencia manager picked out Kieran Tierney as a big loss for the Bhoys as well as naming a further three Celtic stars who should be considered a real danger to his side.

He told the Daily Record: “They have a very important player out injured just now in Kieran Tierney . But I think James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard, Scott Brown are all very good players.

“Celtic have a lot of very good players at very high levels. As a team, they work very well. They have a very good manager who has managed Liverpool and they have a very attacking philosophy.

“I repeat, they are a very good team, with very good players. I have the feeling that, in the future, some of these players will be playing at a very high level.”

Opinion

There is little doubting that Celtic have some seriously top quality talent who will need to leave Scotland to fulfil their potential and it seems as though Marcelino has a pretty good grip on the Hoops’ squad, picking out perhaps the four most influential players Rodgers has on his books. However, everyone at Parkhead can make a difference and it may be down to those fringe figures and squad players to stand up and be counted if the Valencia boss finds a way to silence the likes of Forrest and Edouard. Marcelino might not have too much knowledge when it comes to the likes of Oliver Burke, partly due to his lack of playing time at West Brom, and if Rodgers can find a way to get him as a primary outlet instead of the other big names in the side then the Hoops could spring a dangerous surprise. It should be a cracking showdown between two managers who obviously have done their research. Hopefully for the Parkhead faithful they are in for a treat.
