Celtic could play a blinder by signing Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson in the summer as he could be the ideal solution to their right-back woes.

The Hoops are clearly in need of signing a new right-back in the summer as both Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa have proven not to be up to scratch.

While Celtic did welcome Jeremy Toljan to the club in January from Borussia Dortmund, the 24-year-old right-back is only on loan at the club and is set to return to the German giants at the end of the season as it stands.

However the Hoops could easily not have to worry about who to play at right-back come the start of next season if they sign Jenkinson from the Gunners.

The 27-year-old flyer wowed on Wednesday against Bournemouth after being given a rare start in the Premier League.

In fact the 5-1 victory over the Cherries saw Jenkinson get his first start for Arsenal in 830 days (Source: talkSPORT) and more amazingly he was able to impress despite not having played much senior football recently.

The right-back burst up and down the flank for the Gunners, providing an attacking threat, and also looked reliable when he had to defend.

Jenkinson, whose Arsenal contract expires in 2020, is probably still on the chopping block despite his latest impressive display when it comes to the summer and it would make sense for Celtic to go and sign him.

Not only do they need a right-back but Jenkinson is proven himself at a high level, he has played 92 times in the English Premier League, and he is at an age where he can be a solution for the Hoops for multiple seasons.

Also it would be a smart piece of business for the Hoops as the 27-year-old is no doubt chomping at the bit to be at a club where he will get plenty of first-team action and that would certainly be the case if he jumped ship to Celtic.
