Tottenham have been handed a major boost ahead of their north London derby clash against Arsenal with Harry Kane avoiding any punishment for his alleged headbutt in the game against Chelsea, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the England striker was facing the possibility of a three game ban for an incident involving Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta but that match referee Andre Marriner included the incident in his report, meaning that action cannot be taken by the FA.

The clash between the Spurs and Chelsea stars saw Kane move his head towards the defender and the club would have been seriously fearing a retrospective punishment.

Opinion

A lucky break for Tottenham, who really cannot afford to be without Kane for any more of the season. It was silly and rash from the England hitman and had he been banned then there could have been no complaints. He did move his head towards Azpilicueta and he is perhaps fortunate that the Spanish star chose to stand his ground instead of falling to the floor as a number of other players might have. It was merely handbags but Kane threatened to cross the line in a show of petulance we have not seen from the Spurs star often. He will no doubt count himself a little lucky to escape this one without any punishment and will no doubt think twice before making the same mistake again any time soon. The fans are in for a treat this weekend and losing Kane would have been a bitter pill to swallow.
