Alan Brazil shared he would like to see either David Moyes or Steve Clarke succeed Brendan Rodgers if the manager was set to leave Celtic.

The talkSPORT host was asked directly by Ray Parlour who he would be keen on taking over the reigns at the Hoops and went on to praise the job Steve Clarke was currently doing at Kilmarnock.

Brazil then suggested Moyes and highlighted the fact he used to play for Celtic, before suggesting that the experienced manager would be open to taking the job.

“Steve Clarke has done a brilliant job and of course he is getting pelters from Rangers fans…he has done a brilliant job and what about David Moyes?” said Brazil on talkSPORT (Monday February 25th 7:18am).

“Ex-Celtic player, would he not take the Celtic job?”

OPINION

Both of Brazil’s managerial suggestions make a lot of sense and could realistically be chosen to succeed Rodgers at the Hoops. However, before being asked who he would want to take over the reigns, Brazil made it clear that he hoped there would be no managerial change. There is going to be a lot of talk about Rodgers exiting the Hoops in the coming weeks as, according to The Guardian, Leicester City are expected to make an attempt to appoint him their boss after sacking Claude Puel. It will be a shame if the Hoops lose Rodgers as a manager and whoever succeeds him will have a hard task replacing him. The 46-year-old has guided Celtic to domestic dominance during his reign with the only disappointing aspect of his spell being the club’s record in Europe. With that in mind, given Brazil’s two suggestions, perhaps Moyes is the right man to succeed Rodgers. The manager has experience competing in Europa League as well as the Champions League as a manager, and may have the skill set to help the club take a step forward.
