Arsenal are plotting a £25million summer move for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, according to The Scottish Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the English club believe the 21-year-old has the skills to take the Premier League by storm after tracking his progress for two years.

The Scottish Sun report that the Gunners have no problem with Tierney’s £25million price tag unlike Everton did last summer and are stepping up their interest.

Good move for Celtic?

No, under no circumstances is it a good idea to sell Tierney.

The left back, who has featured 32 times this season, is an amazing talent the Hoops should be looking to hang onto as long as possible.

Celtic are very much aware of this hence why Tierney’s current contract doesn’t expire until 2023.

While Arsenal may be willing to shatter Celtic’s current sale record, which is the £20m they sold Moussa Dembele to Lyon for, it’s better to have a player of the left back’s calibre rather than the cash as it would be a near impossible task to replace him.

Likely to happen?

It’s believable that Arsenal could be ready to attempt to lure Tierney to their club, but until they make a bid, then it’s hard to say this move is on the cards.

Celtic know the uproar that would occur if they sold a fan favourite like the 21-year-old defender and it’s just hard to imagine them sanctioning his exit as a result.

Also while the report claims the Gunners have no worries over the player’s eight-figure valuation, they have avoided splashing the cash where possible in the last couple of transfer windows, so it’s seems odd for them to be willing to pay such a high amount on Tierney without blinking.

Therefore as it stands Celtic fans shouldn’t worry about Tierney being poached.
