Many Celtic fans will surely salivate over the fact Brendan Rodgers believes defender Jeremy Toljan is set to get even better once his fitness improves.

The Hoops boss delivered his verdict on the 24-year-old flyer after he made his full debut in the 2-0 win over Hibernian on Wednesday, and it was an exciting one to say the least.

“He’s a really good player,” said Rodgers, as transcribed by Celtic’s official Twitter account.

“You can see his talent.

“Great assist for the first goal, good energy and very composed. I thought he was excellent and he’s only going to get better once his fitness improves.”

When you consider that Toljan has already wowed Celtic fans with his ability since arriving on loan from Borussia Dortmund in January, supporters will no doubt be salivating over how good he could possibly get as Rodgers basically said there was more to come.

The 24-year-old played 45 minutes against St Johnstone at the week end and his pace as well as composure on the ball stood out as he looked like the right-back Celtic had been crying out for.

Toljan then built on that very promising performance by excelling against Hibs as not only did he look calm at the back but he even got an assist to showcase his creative vision and ability to spot a pass.

Rodgers is probably spot-on to suggest that the flyer is only set to get better for Celtic despite already impressing as surely he must be a little rusty after barely featuring for Borussia Dortmund ahead of joining this season.

Toljan only managed one appearance for the German giants and has instead spent the majority of his 2018/19 campaign battling injuries, so it makes sense he isn’t 100%.

Therefore after hearing Rodgers’ believable verdict that the defender is set to get even better in the coming weeks, lots of Hoops will surely be drooling over the possibilities of how good he actually is given that he has already made a difference.
