Brendan Rodgers, Chris Davies and Kolo Toure have all agreed to quit Celtic and join Leicester, according to Glasgow Evening Times journalist Alison McConnell.

The reliable journalist claimed via her personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the senior trio have all agreed to go to Leicester, who sacked Claude Puel last week.

It is understood that 47-year-old Neil Lennon will take charge of the Bhoys for the rest of the season as they aim to win their third domestic treble in a row.

OPINION

That is a major, major blow for Celtic. Rodgers has been one of the best managers to grace Celtic Park in a very long time and to lose him at this point of the season could be extremely damaging to the club’s hopes of winning a third domestic treble in a row. Lennon did a solid job in his previous spell at Parkhead and did well at Hibernian, but the ex-Celtic midfielder is nowhere near as good as the man he will be replacing and Peter Lawwell will have a huge task on his hands to find Rodgers’ permanent successor. Losing Davies and Toure is also a blow for the Bhoys. They have been a major part of Rodgers’ coaching set-up and to have such a drastic change in the middle of the season could disrupt the club. The Hoops have some very testing games coming up. They play Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday before a Scottish Cup quarter-final showdown with Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday. Is this where it all starts going wrong for Celtic?
