Steven Gerrard really knows how to grind gears with his team selection, with some of the Rangers fans now raging over the fact that Nikola Katic has been axed from his starting line-up for the clash against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Wednesday night. It really is an odd decision by Gerrard. Katic has been solid lately, helping to keep two clean sheets in his last two Scottish Premiership outings. Joe Worrall on the other hand is an accident waiting to happen. Connor Goldson is the club’s best defender and it’s a boost to have him back from injury, but surely the partnership of Goldson and Katic is Gerrard’s best defensive pairing. They were solid together at the start of the season up until the point Gerrard axed Katic for no good reason. It seems he has done the same again, and hopefully it won’t hurt Katic’s confidence like it did last time.
