OPINION

One of the main issues that has plagued West Ham ever since the left their beloved Boleyn Ground has been the lack of character at the London Stadium and the separation between the fans and the players. Whereas their own home was famous for having supporters rigth on top of the action, and for whipping up a fierce atmosphere for visiting team, their new lodgings are decidedly less imposing. The club have therefore announced that they are exploring possibilities with regards as to how to fix this issue. Chiefly, the club cite the potential for moving the lower tiers of the Sir Trevor Brooking and Bobby Moore stands forward by more than four metres, and squaring them off in a style more akin to a traditional football stadium. Some fans have reacted with scepticism, suggesting that it could lead the those sat in the upper tier feeling even more isolated, but many have met the move with positivity, and for good reason. If nothing else, it really feels as if the board are trying to accommodate fans as best as possible. After the unsightly scenes at the end of last season they appear to have responded as best as they can, and trying to find a solution to a long-running fan gripe shows that those at the top are trying to run a corner.
