West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini made his long-awaited return from injury against Fulham, and it’s fair to say several Hammers supporters were thrilled at seeing him in action. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder ahead of the 3-1 win over the Cottagers hadn’t featured this season as he had been stuck on the sidelines with an injury he picked up with Argentina ahead of the World Cup in the summer. It was a blow for the Hammers when news originally broke that Lanzini’s injury was serious as he is one of the most talented players at the club. The attacking midfielder was arguably a contender for the Hammers player of the season in the 2017/18 campaign as he was his side’s attacking spark, racking up nine assists and five goals. However it’s worth noting that understandably Lanzini didn’t look at his best against Fulham. As one Hammers fan rightly pointed out below you could tell he was a player who hadn’t played a lot of football lately, so supporters have to be patience why he shakes off the rust he has accumulated on the sidelines. Lanzini got to play 15 minutes against the Cottagers and will likely taste more action in the coming weeks as Manuel Pellegrini will ease him back into his first-team plans.
