Tottenham are plotting a £35 million swoop for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in the summer, according to the Express.

The newspaper reports on their website that the North London club have had the 20-year-old on their radar for quite a while, and are planning a raid for the young ace in case Christian Eriksen departs the club at the end of the season.

The report adds that the Hammers will find it hard to hang onto one of their star assets – who is 6ft 1in [Transfermarkt] – as the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have also been interested.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes, this without a doubt would be a great move for Spurs – especially if Eriksen, 26, does end up leaving in the summer. The central midfielder has shown numerous times this season that he has the quality to make it at one of the top teams, so what better way to showcase that even more than by joining Tottenham. He would be a welcome addition to the side in the summer, and he is a player who will definitely get the fans on the edges of their seats.

Likely to happen?

Seeing as Rice only penned a deal recently that extends his stay at the London Stadium until 2024, the likelihood of the Irons letting him leave is very slim indeed. Why would they sell one of their best players to their London rivals? It would not make any sense in the slightest, and Spurs may have to really test West Ham’s resolve with a huge bid for his services. He is such a valued player for the Hammers, and Manuel Pellegrini certainly would not let him leave without putting up a fight.
