Piers Morgan has insisted that Tottenham’s “brilliant” win over Borussia Dortmund means Mauricio Pochettino will be at Manchester United next season.
The celebrity Arsenal fan delivered his verdict on Twitter in the aftermath of Spurs’ 3-0 triumph in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash against the Bundesliga leaders at Wembley on Wednesday night.
Brilliant performance @SpursOfficial! You’ve just ensured Pochettino goes to United! ??

OPINION
There’s nothing Morgan enjoys more than winding people up on social media, and one of his trusted and favourite targets is the fanbase of Tottenham, bitter rivals to his beloved Arsenal. He praised a “brilliant performance” from Spurs on Wednesday night, but couldn’t resist a poke in the ribs of the club he loves to hate, adding that it will only serve to convince the Man United board that Pochettino is the man who must be their new permanent manager. Ole-Gunner Solskjaer has emerged as the favourite for the vacant post after transforming the fortunes of the Premier League’s biggest revenue generators since taking the reins on a caretaker basis. Could the events of the last 48 hours, in which United face an uphill battle to reach the Champions League quarter-final stage and Spurs are huge favourites to do so, change attitudes of the United hierarchy? It won’t matter a jot if Pochettino wants to stay put, in any case.
