COMMENTARY
Many Tottenham fans were blown away by how good defender Jan Vertonghen was at playing left-back as he seemed to dazzle them against Newcastle United. The 31-year-old centre-back was put out on the left by Mauricio Pochettino in the 1-0 win over the Magpies on Saturday and it didn’t seem to faze him one bit. As several Spurs fan below pointed out, the opportunity to play on the flank just seemed to gift Vertonghen an opportunity to show off his superb crossing ability. Some Tottenham supporters seemed to think he was a better crosser of the ball than some of his teammates, who regularly are touted as the club’s best crossers, and it was to see why given how consistently he accurately was able to whip the ball into the box. While Pochettino will likely move Vertonghen back into his natural central position sooner rather than later, some fans may not want to see that happen just yet.

A lot of hard work but nothing to show for yet. Vertonghen crosses are a beauty.

Vertonghen is a better crosser of the ball than 4/5 of our full-backs.

You have to love vertonghen, plays CB and is the ultimate defender you play him LB and becomes the best crosser in the team but forgets how to defend!

Call me crazy but I think Vertonghen should be taking set pieces. He has a delicious cross and he, honestly, doesn't get his head on many deliveries anyway. I see only positives
