Former West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Heung-min Son while explaining why he thinks Spurs are still in the race for the Premier League title.

Nolan issued his verdict on whether Spurs could win the Premier League this season and claimed that due to the fact he thinks they can win all of their next games then they are clearly in with a shout.

Nolan added how important Son and Christian Eriksen will be in the fight for the title and pointed out that the South Korea international had proving his worth in recent weeks.

“Well I don’t think he can balance his squad, what he’s got to do is try to keep them fit and get players back as quickly as possible,” said Nolan on Sky Sports News (Monday February 11th, 10:23am).

“What I will say is they’ve proved a lot of people wrong and they’ve stuck in and shown what they are that they’re a team, not just an eleven y’know and as Sol (Bamba) just alluded to there, they may not be playing great but they are winning football matches and one player who is started to show what he is about is Son.

“He’s been absolutely fabulous and he has sort of taken the reigns from Harry Kane, and with Alli missing, y’know he has surely proven his worth.

“So when you’ve got him and someone like Eriksen backing him up so I don’t think they’re out of it and I think the next six games, I think they can win all of their next six games to be honest from what I’ve seen, from the resilience they’ve shown.”

OPINION

With Nolan’s West Ham connections well known, it seems he shows no bias when backing Spurs to actually be a contender in the race to win the Premier League title. While everyone is focused on Liverpool and Manchester City, Spurs are continuing to stay in with a shout of the title regardless if anyone gives them a chance. Mauricio Pochettino’s side may not be impressing anyone with their style of play currently but they are grinding out results and slapping points up on the board. As for Nolan’s opinion of Son, the former Hammers man is on the money with his remarks as the 26-year-old winger has been worth his weight in gold in recent weeks. In fact it’s fair to say that Son has stepped up, just as Nolan points out, to really ensure that his side get over the line by being clinical in front of goal in so many games lately.
