Tottenham have played magnificently in the absence of their captain Harry Kane, but there’s no doubt that his return is highly anticipated.

It’s good news for the club’s fans, then, that he will soon be back in contention. Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that he returned to full time training with Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Monday, boosting his chances of featuring against Burnley on Saturday.

The England captain was expected to be out until March, but he has seemingly made rapid progress in his recovery. Whether he’s involved against the Clarets or not, his return is absolutely vital to Tottenham’s chances down the stretch this campaign.

Despite how well the team have done in his absence Kane remains the most important part of this Spurs team. There is no one else who consistently changes games like him, while his statistics are in and of themselves phenomenal.

Son Heung-min has taken the mantle of Tottenham’s main man since Kane has been out, producing a number of excellent performances and edging his way into the Player of the Season discussion. However, he is such a team player that he will likely cede the floor to the 25-year-old upon his return.

A fully fit and firing Kane playing alongside a better-than-ever Son is an exciting thought for Spurs fans. In fact, now that Kane is almost back, the team’s season will likely kick into overdrive.

His return is perfect timing, with Tottenham in the thick of a title challenge and seemingly set for the Champions League quarter finals after their excellent first leg victory over Borussia Dortmund last week.

All in all, this is tremendous news for Pochettino and the club as a whole. Things are about to get very exciting again in North London, and Kane’s return could be key in deciding the destiny of Tottenham’s season.
