Chelsea striker and Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham is among three Blues fringe talents on the transfer radar of Newcastle United, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt) England international, who has two caps under his belt for the Three Lions, are joined by Lewis Baker and Michy Batshuayi on the Magpies’ shortlist of potential signings.

It is stated that Rafael Benitez is also making Kenedy’s loan deal a permanent one, having spent the last year at St James’ Park temporarily, although it is stated that the transfer ban imposed on Chelsea could have an impact on Newcastle’s ability to prise anyone from Stamford Bridge.

Opinion

Abraham would be a magnificent signing for Newcastle and as it looks as though Villa are not going to be playing Premier League football next season, he could well be on the lookout for a new top flight club to ply his trade at. Baker meanwhile would be a decent addition to the middle of the park, although his failure to impress at Leeds United before joining Reading in the January transfer window might cast a few doubts over his ability to perform in the Premier League. Batshuayi is obviously going to be trying to prove himself in England after a could of years struggling to make any impact and his loan spell at Crystal Palace should show whether he has got what it takes to make a success of himself. He would probably be the most difficult of the trio to get on board this summer and is probably more an ambitious target than a realistic aim for Benitez and his transfer team.
