Gary Lineker heaped praise on Newcastle United duo Miguel Almiron and Sean Longstaff for their performances in the 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
The former Premier League forward shared that he was impressed by the Magpies’ big-money January signing but that he also thought the 21-year-old Longstaff was excellent once again.

After defeating Huddersfield Town on Saturday, the Magpies sit 15th in the table with 28 points after 27 games played.
OPINION
Almiron will steal the headlines for obvious reasons after wowing against Huddersfield, but hopefully Longstaff continuing to impress won’t go under the radar. The 21-year-old midfielder has defied expectations in order to look comfortable in the Premier League as Rafa Benitez gave him a huge challenge by selecting him to play in England’s top division at this stage of his career. Longstaff was playing in League One in his 2017/18 campaign with Blackpool, and to make up the step up to the Premier League look so easy, it’s some feat indeed. Hopefully Rafa Benitez will continue to back the youngster in the coming weeks by selecting him, as it’s nice to see an academy prospect flourish in the Magpies’ first-team. Also given that the win over the Terriers has moved the Magpies four points away from the relegation zone, which gives them some breathing space. However based on the Magpies’ display earlier, they could soon be breathing very easy over the threat of relegation as they look to have all the tools to rack up more points in the coming weeks.
