Gary Lineker took to his Twitter account during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Leicester City to rave about attacker Marcus Rashford.

The former Leicester player shared via his verified account that he never understood those who doubted the Manchester United forward’s composure in front of goal as he always thought the player appeared confident and calm when shooting.

Lineker then added that he thought Rashford was mature beyond his years as a result.

“Never understood these doubts about @MarcusRashford’s composure in front of goal,” tweeted the retired forward.

“He’s always struck me as totally confident and calm in his finishing. Mature beyond his years.”

OPINION

It’s clear that Lineker was in awe of Rashford during Manchester United’s win over the Foxes on Sunday and it’s easy to see why. The forward was in clinical form against Leicester as it took him only nine minutes to put Man United ahead. Rashford then proceeded to look dangerous whenever he looked like getting a sight a goal, and it seems that his recent improvement in form is here to say. The 21-year-old has now scored five goals in his last six league outings and you wouldn’t bet against him continuing to score, given how lively he is looking. While some will credit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over as manager as a reason why Rashford suddenly looks able to be an attacking threat again, the player himself does deserve praise for how good he has performed as of late. While Lineker shares he never understood those who doubted Rashford’s scoring ability, given his record in recent times, it’s easy to see why some were unconvinced by his finishing ability.
