COMMENTARY
Everton lost 2-0 to Manchester City on Wednesday but a section of Toffees supporters found a reason to be cheery. Several took to Twitter to heap praise on midfielder Tom Davies with one even questioning when he had turned into Andres Iniesta in his prime. When you consider that Spanish midfielder is arguably one of the best to have played the beautiful game, it’s fair to say that Toffees fan was particularly impressed with Davies’ display v Man City. The 20-year-old did look like a bright spark for Marco Silva’s side on Wednesday and did his best to weather the storm in midfield. This did see Davies put in several crunching tackles and it’s fair to say that with some Toffees fans heaping praise on him, he least deserved that due to the effort he put in. Davies clearly has a bright future at Goodison Park and if he continues to progress in the way the Toffees clearly hope he will, Everton have a potential star on their books.

Looks better without Sigursson as he can get further forward.

For me, I think we’ve been much better. Shame about the goal but I knew it was going in once we conceded the free kick. It’s becoming silly now. All about the Blues tonight and there’s positives to take from this game! Davies has stepped up! #EFC #COYB

Apart from the goal at the end and Pickford, I think we played better than previous matches this season. Davies has stood out #EFC #COYB
