OPINION
There aren’t many positive things about Everton these days, but midfielder Andre Gomes is certainly one of them. The Portugal international has come back down to earth a bit of late after a magnificent start to his Toffees career, but he looked something close to his best again in his team’s 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The highlight for him was, of course, his magnificent goal which briefly drew the hosts level at Goodison Park. The Barcelona loanee picked the ball up in midfield and absolutely slammed it past his countryman Rui Patricio. He really did leave Patricio with no chance and it was a phenomenal strike right into the roof of the net. So not only can he dictate games from deep but he can rocket the ball past a goalkeeper from way out as well. He can do it all, and it’s just a shame he hasn’t been performing as well recently. Still, his overall contribution to Everton’s cause this season has been positive and he proved that again on Saturday.
