OPINION
Chelsea defender David Luiz produced a terribly disappointing performance in his team’s 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Monday night. The 4-3-3 formation that manager Maurizio Sarri sticks to so rigidly doesn’t seem to be bringing the best out of the players anymore, and Luiz is chief among those who are struggling at the moment. He simply doesn’t suit a two man centre back unit, and that was shown on Monday. The Brazil international was one of several players at fault for Paul Pogba’s goal, failing to pick up the Frenchman or make any telling intervention whatsoever. He is the most experienced player in this Chelsea backline and as such he should be taking responsibility in that sort of situation, but he didn’t. His performance against the Red Devils summed up the Blues’ problems at the moment. He looked lacklustre and off the pace, and that’s the case for his team at the moment as well.

Luiz and Rudiger need binning they literally can’t do the basics, Kepa might aswell tie his hands behind his back because he can’t use them. Embarrassing

Negative
* Not coping well with their high counter-press
* Kepa – you almost gave me a heart attack!
* Luiz and Alonso at fault for the goal; horrendous defending
* Azpi not tracking for second goal, Kepa poor too— Tom Overend (@tovers98) February 18, 2019
Doesn't matter how much possession we have when we have 2 defenders that continually let us down.
Alonso out.
Luiz out.

I agree that they take extreme risks in midfield. It’s stupid. If the coach has told Luiz to head down to the feet of a guy who has two rival midfielders on his back, then he’s stupid. But, players have to sense danger, Luiz is very poor at that.

Alonso, Luiz, Rudiger, Cesar should be released before Sarri sack

I’m at a loss for words…Alonso and Luiz are shocking, Jorginho is doing nothing and Hudson-Odoi is still on the bench. Something better be done at halftime #CFC

HT thoughts:
– Alonso and David Luiz our weakest link, not that Rudi has been great.
– Jorginho probably our best player on the pitch alongside Hazard.
– We don’t look like we’ll score.
– Sarri needs to make some changes 2nd half.CHO for Pedro. It’s a pity RLC is injured. #CFC— Bongani Dlamini (@Bongani_Dlams) February 18, 2019
