Wolves have really come into their own at this stage of the season and there will no doubt be many fans who tip them for a top-eight finish in the Premier League based on their recent form.

One player who has been part of this recent success is winger Diogo Jota, who has been excellent for Wolves lately and has scored a total of five goals this term – as well as providing three assists.

He has no doubt established himself as a firm fan favourite at Molineux after some terrific displays this season and he is now a key part of the starting XI.

However, alarm bells will surely be ringing in boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s ears right now as Jota is now a doubt to face Bristol City in the FA Cup on Sunday after picking up a knock.

The 22-year-old star has been on a reduced training regime after getting the knock against Everton a couple of weeks ago, and has suffered damage to the injury during the 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Monday.

Nuno will see if he can take part in some training today in order to find out whether he can play, and if he does not pull through, the manager will no doubt be absolutely gutted.

“Diogo started his problem against Everton. It was a big impact, a dead-leg, so he’s been struggling since then. Since then, we have taken care of him,” he said, as quoted by the Express and Star.

“We went to Marbella, and he didn’t get involved, but he trained enough to be ready to compete like he did in the last game. This week, again, in this game (against Newcastle), he had a knock on the same place, so he didn’t train.

“We have one more session to go, to see if he can be considered after.”

A few key members of the starting XI will no doubt be rested for this clash with Bristol City, but if things are not going Wolves’ way – something which happened against Shrewsbury the first time around – the Nuno may have to resort to bringing the big guns on to make the difference.

However, the fact that Jota is not likely to be in the squad with a major doubt is not an ideal scenario, as he one player who can make a major impact when he is brought on.
