OPINION

Leeds only added one senior player to the squad in the January transfer window after the Daniel James debacle but there was a lot of buzz around an addition to the development squad. Mateusz Bogusz is a 17-year-old midfielder who comes highly praised from Poland and Leeds fans have been desperate to see what he’s made of. They got their chance tonight after he received international clearance to play and he made his bow for the Under-23s against Nottingham Forest, alongside first-team players Barry Douglas and Gaetano Berardi. It wasn’t the dream start though as Forest took the lead with the first shot of the game, but Carlos Corberan’s side came right back into the game and had a number of chances to equalise in the first-half. However, Forest hit them with a sucker punch on the half-hour to take a 2-0 lead. It stayed that way until half-time but Leeds staged a comeback in the second-half and came out with a more-than-deserved share of the spoils. Leeds fans were really impressed with what they saw from Bogusz, although it was a fairly quiet night for him. He did have a chance to win it in the 82nd minute but ended up forcing a good save from the Forest keeper. Overall the Leeds fans were impressed though and think Orta has pulled out another gem. Considering this was his first game in England it certainly bodes well for the future.
