Ray Parlour issued an indirect rallying cry to the entire fanbase of Newcastle United when pointing out how it could benefit January signing Miguel Almiron.

The three-time Premier League winner shared that there would be pressure on the 25-year-old attacking midfielder to succeed at the Magpies as he was their record signing.

Yet Parlour then went on to point out that Magpies supporters were capable of creating a magnificent atmosphere at St James Park and that was something Almiron could enjoy.

“There is pressure on him (Almiron) of course there is but he has to understand that when you get signed by a team, the record signing, there’s gonna be pressure, let’s hope he can deal with that,” said Parlour on talkSPORT (Friday February 22nd, 18:10).

“We know the Newcastle fans are fantastic, they get right behind that team, right behind every single player and he’ll probably enjoy that.

“He’ll enjoy playing in front of that St James Park crowd as they’re a special crowd and when they ramp it up, it is magnificent, atmospheres like that.”

It’s easy to agree with Parlour’s suggestion that a positive atmosphere and lots of vocal support from Magpies supporters could spur Almiron on to deliver the performance his stats suggest he is worthy of.

The 25-year-old was a goal machine in 2018 for Atlanta United as he scored 13, while assisting 13, in the 38 appearances he made across all competitions.

Rafa Benitez’s side have struggled to be prolific this season and they really need Almiron to hit the ground running in order to help steer them away from relegation.

Therefore given Parlour’s indirect rallying cry to create an atmosphere that the attacker could excel in, Newcastle fans should heed his words as it would see their new man shine.

Magpies supporters should also waste no time in getting behind Almiron as he could start against Huddersfield Town at St James Park (Source: BBC) on Saturday, and that should be considered a must-win game.
