Rangers coach Peter Lovenkrands has emerged as a managerial candidate for Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims that current manager Kasper Hjulmand is on his way out of Nordsjaelland in the summer, and the top-flight European club are now lining up Lovenkrands, 39, as his potential successor.

However the former Rangers and Newcastle player has asserted that he is only concerned by what is happening at Ibrox at this moment in time.

He told the Daily Record: “Of course, I’d be flattered by any interest from FC Nordsjaelland.

“They’re my local club and being a manager is something I want to do in the future.

“But I love my job at Rangers and that’s all I’m focusing on right now.”

OPINION

Lovenkrands seems to be happy with his current job at Rangers, but surely he cannot refuse the chance to manage a top-flight team in his home nation, which also happens to be located near to where he grew up. Nordsjaelland are not having the best of seasons at the moment and are currently in 10th placed in the Danish Superliga, however they would represent a great starting point for Lovenkrands if he does want to get into management. According to the Daily Record, Lovenkrands is impressing while coaching the Rangers reserves, but surely he will see that a chance to manage a top-flight European club is a massive step up. That’s not a dig against the Light Blues, but for the ex-Denmark international, that has to be something that would surely interest him. It would be a shame if the Gers did lose Lovenkrands. He is clearly a good coach, but this could be the start of something massive for him.
