Marcelo Bielsa has hinted that Adam Forshaw could be back to full fitness for Leeds United’s clash against Swansea on Wednesday night – but the entire Whites fanbase will surely be dreading his return.

Forshaw, 27, missed the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday due to injury, but speaking after the game, Bielsa suggested that the ex-Boro midfielder could return against the Swans.

BBC journalist Adam Pope was at Bielsa’s post-match press conference and indirectly quoted the Argentine via his personal Twitter account, saying: “Forshaw could be fit for Swansea.”

That would be a terrible move by Bielsa if Forshaw does walk straight back into the starting line-up.

Forshaw has been in woeful form lately and Kalvin Phillips, who scored the last-gasp equaliser on Saturday, was without doubt the Whites’ best player on the pitch at the Riverside against Boro having replaced Forshaw in the side.

Since joining United from the Teeside club last January, Forshaw has really struggled to stand-out.

Injury hampered his start to life at the West Yorkshire club last season and also saw him miss the first few games of the current campaign.

Forshaw went on a run from October until last weekend of starting every single Leeds game in the Championship and for around half of those games, he has been less than convincing.

Phillips on the other hand has been outstanding and is a solid contender to win Leeds’ player of the season award.

He was the difference at Middlesbrough on Saturday and he surely will be again against Swansea next week, if he starts over Forshaw.
