Adrian Durham has slammed Patrick Bamford for failing to prove his doubters wrong in Leeds United’s 1-0 defeat to QPR at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.

Luke Freeman’s second-half goal for the Rs was enough for the Whites to suffer defeat as they missed the chance to go top of the Championship table by winning their game in hand.

TalkSPORT host Durham was not happy with Bamford’s display in the capital, and believes that he has missed an opportunity to silence those who do not rate him.

“Was at QPR last night. Freeman excellent, QPR desire exceptional, Leeds played best football, until they got in the box. Chance for Bamford to convince any doubters between now and end of the season, he didn’t make it happen last night,” said Durham via his talkSPORT Drive Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

OPINION

Does Bamford have any doubters? He cost Leeds a lot of money when they signed him from Middlesbrough in the summer, but the 25-year-old is surely a proven centre-forward in the Championship and his form this season has been relatively good considering his injuries. Since signing for United, Bamford has only made 13 appearances across all competitions. He has started just four games in the Championship, but has still managed to hit three goals in the league for the Whites. Bamford’s failure to score was not the only reason Leeds did not win against QPR, it was a poor performance all around and it’s quite harsh of Durham to single out one player for not playing well. Durham has defended Leeds quite a lot lately, especially with the spygate saga, so his criticism of Bamford is quite unexpected. Surely there are other players at Elland Road that have been worse than him lately? Most Leeds fans would probably say Luke Ayling.
