Kemar Roofe has said that he will be out for six-to-eight weeks after suffering ligament damage.

That’s a bitter blow for Leeds but the good news is that he is fully expecting to be back for the last six or seven games of the season.

Roofe was talking on the Chris Moyle’s Breakfast Show on Radio X (9.30am), which was broadcasting live from Elland Road.

“I suffered damage to my lateral ligament and I will be out for six to eight weeks,” Roofe said.

Asked whether he would be back before the end of the season, Roofe said, “Yes, I will be back for the final six or seven games, maybe a bit sooner. Every game is like a final now, each three points is massive.”

OPINION

This has got to be seen as good news for Leeds, although Roofe will be a real loss. The real worry must have been whether he would return again this season, with just 14 games left. The earliest it seems Roofe will be back is for the Birmingham game at the beginning of April. That means he will be out for seven games, including key fixtures against Sheffield United and West Brom. Roofe admitted that every game is a cup final now for Leeds and they must get back to winning ways against struggling Bolton on Saturday. Six points from that game and the Tuesday clash with QPR would get Leeds back to the top of the league and in a good position to push on. The real question is who is going to replace Roofe in the side and our money is on Tyler Roberts, with Izzy Brown yet to make his debut for the club. Brown could well come off the bench though to finally make his bow after joining injured in the summer.
