Leeds United were one of five clubs to send club representatives to watch Jake Hastie in action for Motherwell on Wednesday night, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reports on its website that the 19-year-old – who scored in the 2-1 win over St Mirren in midweek – has attracted a whole host of admirers that includes the Whites, Norwich, West Brom, Swansea and Sunderland.

The report adds that the likes of Leeds have been alerted to the possibility of signing the young prospect at the end of the season as he could be available for a cut-price development fee.

Good move for Leeds?

If there are five clubs all watching Hastie in action, then there is no doubt that Hastie is a gem waiting to be unleashed.

We have already seen the impact that young players like Jack Clarke have been making at Leeds, and if Hastie’s excellent goal on Wednesday is anything to go by, then he has the potential to make the same impact too.

He is obviously a real hot-prospect, and that could certainly be unleashed if he made the move to Elland Road in the summer.

Likely to happen?

Five clubs have all watched Hastie in action, so there looks like there could be a fierce battle for his signature at the end of the season.

This makes Leeds’ chances of landing him rather slim, but they have just as much chance of signing him than anyone else does.

The fact he could be available for a cut-price fee in the summer does increase their chances of signing him slightly, but with five clubs in the mix, it remains to be seen.
