Henry Winter, chief football writer of the Times, posted a Twitter message in response to an official Leeds United Twitter post, praising manager Marcelo Bielsa and the owner Andrea Radrizzani.

The official update said, “Over 6,000 Leeds season ticket holders have renewed for the 2019/20 campaign, the largest opening week of sales on record.”

Winter replied saying, “Another sign of Leeds going places under Bielsa and Radrizzani.” He rounded it off with two applause emojis.

Winter posted his message on Wednesday afternoon.

OPINION

Leeds are going places under Andrea Radrizzani. He’s done a lot right at Leeds, including buying the stadium back and bringing in manager Marcelo Bielsa. Bielsa has re-crafted last season’s flops into potential promotion-winning players. The truth about football though is that you’re judged on results and the only one that matters at the moment is whether Leeds can win promotion to the Premier League. Ultimately this is what Leeds will be judged on and it’s getting to the moment of truth. Leeds are on a run of bad form, but still in touch with the top-two. They’re third on goal difference from Sheffield United. However, there’s heavy speculation that Bielsa will leave if Leeds don’t go up this season and a Daily Mail article claimed Radrizzani would have to sell the club if they stayed in the Championship. Promotion to the Premier League is always a game of high stakes but for Leeds this season, it’s worth even more then just the money.
