Former Leeds star Tony Dorigo has said that Marcelo Bielsa is ‘crying out’ for Izzy Brown as his side readies for the crucial Championship run-in.

Brown, who joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer, is still waiting to make his debut for Leeds after arriving injured.

But he’s expected to make the bench again tonight against Swansea and he could finally get to make his bow – something that Dorigo says could inject a huge boost into Leeds’ promotion campaign.

Talking on the LS11LUFC podcast that streamed live on Wednesday morning, Dorigo said, “We still need a bit of magic dust between now and the end of the season and I think that will come from Bamford and hopefully Izzy Brown.

“I still think those two players will have a huge say in what happens – certainly Izzy Brown.

“I don’t know anyone who has a bad word to say about him. Or, if you watched him at Huddersfield and saw what he did for them, you know Bielsa is crying out for this type of player.

“Imagine Saiz with an extra yard of pace, that’s Izzy Brown.”

OPINION

High praise from Dorigo, after star man Samu Saiz left before Christmas, and Izzy Brown’s potential is exciting for Leeds fans. They suffered a huge disappointment when the deal for Swansea winger Dan James broke down on deadline day, but it’s more than fair to say Brown will be like a new signing for them. He hasn’t played for Leeds yet and he’ll be knocking on the door tonight after making the bench in the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough and impressing in recent Under-23s games. Leeds need a boost of something to get their campaign back on track after being leapfrogged at the top of the table by Norwich. They’ve lost four and won just two of their last seven games and a win against Swansea tonight would be a huge tonic – especially with the bad blood between the sides over the failed James transfer. Leeds will be hoping that Brown can make an impact and that James doesn’t come back to haunt them at Elland Road.
