COMMENTARY
Many Aston Villa fans on social media seemed to enjoy ripping attacker Anwar El Ghazi apart for his display against Stoke City and they certainly didn’t hold anything back. One Villans fan even referenced ex-player Aleksandar Tonev, who flopped at the club after failing to score in any of his 17 outings, asking whether El Ghazi had been studying him. Given that Villans fans were in a particularly foul mood as their side drew 1-1 with Stoke City on Saturday, it’s no surprise that they were overly critical of the winger. The 23-year-old missed a golden opportunity to score in the first-half and after that his team didn’t really create too many chances. Some Villans supporters probably hold El Ghazi accountable for not achieving a more positive result. The 23-year-old has featured 22 times this season and it’s hard to know what to expect from him. One moment he will leave fans in awe of him as he shows off the best he has to offer, then in the next breath, he seems unable to make any form of a positive impression. As it stands with El Ghazi only being on loan from Lille until the end of the season, fans will be all too happy to wave goodbye to him in the summer.

Kodjia cannot contribute to fluid expansive football.
El Ghazi SO inconsistent which translates as simply a not good enough footballer.
Adomah constantly inexplicably knocked off the ball
That's why we've been so poor in final third

we are playing well generally but we are useless in front of goal! Why didn't El Ghazi carry that a few steps forward before shooting?! he was in so much space!! #avfc

Don’t believe a word of it. Atrocious first half,Albert,Hause,Whelo,Conor & El Ghazi all dreadful. The rest just not as bad, but absolutely nothing good about AV from that.
