COMMENTARY
To say that injuries have derailed Aston Villa’s Championship campaign would be something of an understatement and there has been no heavier loss than Jack Grealish. The attacking midfielder was running the show in the first half of the season before finding himself forced to the sidelines and things just have not been the same for Dean Smith and his men since. It is understandable as to why an official statement on the status of the Villa born-and-bred ace, as delivered on the club’s official Twitter account, has left much of the fanbase gutted on Twitter. He is out for this weekend’s midlands derby clash against West Brom and there is no saying how long he will remain out for. The longer he misses out, the less chance the Villans have of launching a late bid for a top six finish. His absence has had a real detrimental impact. The sooner they have him back the better – but will it be a case of too little, too late for Smith and his men? Only time will tell. Until then the fans will have to continue bemoaning their struggles without Grealish.

Im beginning to actually think we are never gonna see Grealish play for Villa again. Still, Neil Taylor is fit pic.twitter.com/tWAezuSsuS
