Celtic will receive around £6million for Brendan Rodgers with Leicester set to hire the 46-year-old, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that Rodgers has been in advanced talks to replace Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium, and he could be in the Foxes’ hotseat for their Premier League clash against Watford on Sunday.

It is understood that Rodgers is in Leicester today (Tuesday) to finalise his deal, with Celtic agreeing a compensation package with the East Midlands club worth £6million.

OPINION

It is time to start focusing on the positives. That £6million could go a long way for Celtic, who have hardly ever spent that much money on signing a new player. It could also go towards finding a replacement for Rodgers, especially as some of the best managers who they could hire are already in employment. Celtic will have to pay good money to secure a solid replacement for the Northern Irishman and with it seeming as though Neil Lennon is on his way as interim manager, Peter Lawwell will have until the summer to find a permanent successor. Lawwell has just over two months before the season ends and in that time he should be finding the perfect man. It needs to be someone who is used to managing a team who can dominate domestic leagues, but it also should be someone with proven pedigree in European football. Rodgers struggled with Celtic in the Champions League and Europa League, having never reached further than the round of 32 in the latter. There has to be someone out there who fits that description.
