Celtic must force themselves to the front of the queue to sign Birmingham City forward Che Adams in the summer transfer window after Scotland manager Alex McLeish revealed that wants him to consider a call-up to the Scottish national side.

McLeish, as quoted by the Daily Record, has confirmed that he has been in talks with the 22-year-old hotshot, who was born in Leicester but has a Scottish grandparent, therefore qualifying to play for Scotland.

It is no shock that McLeish would want Adams to join the Tartan Army, especially when you consider the forward’s form for Birmingham this season.

Adams has scored 19 goals in 32 Championship appearances for Blues this term, with eight of them coming in his last seven league outings.

The former England Under-20 international is also said to be on the radar of Celtic, so Brendan Rodgers must know all there is to know about the St Andrew’s ace already.

The Mirror reported earlier this month that Celtic have sent a scout south of the border to keep close tabs on the 22-year-old, although, as expected, they are not the only ones interested.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Watford are also said to be interested in Adams, who TeamTalk reports is now valued at £20million.

That price-tag shouldn’t worry Celtic too mush as it is mainly there to put off potential suitors in the Premier League, and they would surely agree a price much lower than that if Adams was wanted by the Scottish Premiership giants.

If Adams does decide to take up McLeish’s offer and play for Scotland then it would not be a shock if the player also wanted to play in Scotland instead of winning next to nothing for a bang-average Championship side like Birmingham.

Paradise would surely erupt if the Bhoys managed to sign up Adams, a forward who could lead their line – and Scotland’s front-line, for years to come.
