Jonny Hayes has really stepped up and delivered in the last couple of weeks with Brendan Rodgers naming the Celtic fringe player as a stand-in left-back while Kieran Tierney and Emilio Izaguirre have been injured. The Republic of Ireland international looked like he was going to go down as a Parkhead flop after doing very little in his first season and a half as a Celtic player, but the ex-Aberdeen winger has been superb lately. Many Celtic fans were blown away by Hayes’ performance in the 1-0 defeat to Valencia on Thursday night. He was a bit suspect when the Spanish giants scored their goal, but overall, the winger was brilliant and deserves the praise he has received on social media. Hayes will surely drop back out of the starting line-up when Tierney returns from injury, but he should be second-choice left-back now above Izaguirre after impressing in these last few weeks.
