OPINION
It is fair to say that Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic was not in the good books of many football fans after his performance for Australia in their Asian Cup opener against Jordan a few days ago. The Hoops star was admittedly poor as the Socceroos succumbed to a shock defeat to the Middle Eastern minnows. Luckily the playmaker bounced back with a top display on Friday as Australia got their campaign back on track with a 3-0 win over Palestine. Rogic ran the show for Graham Arnold’s side as they strolled to a simple victory which puts them right back in the mix for a place in the knockout stages of the mid-season competition. Many fans on Twitter were purring about Rogic’s performance, especially his sublime cross for Hibs star Jamie McLaren to open the scoring in the first half. Rogic will be pleased to have recovered from a poor start to the tournament, and will be hoping to push on when Australia meet Syria in their final group game on Tuesday.

Regularly a critic of Rogic in an Australian shirt, mainly regarding his movement, but no question he’s one of the best players at the tournament with the ball at his feet. Some incredible work in narrow situations today.

Australia too good for Palestine in the first 20 minutes so far. Rogic is running the show. Awer Mabil looks a class player as well.

Fox no mention of the unbelievable cross from Rogic, the pace on it allowed Maclaren to flick it so easily into the net. #PLEvAUS
