OPINION
It’s something of an understatement that Tottenham fans are seriously unimpressed that their club have been linked by a newspaper report with signing Andy Carroll from West Ham to solve their striker crisis. The Sun report the north Londoners are eager to take advantage of Carroll’s contract situation – he is a free agent in six months – by making a shock £2million move for him. The general gist of the reactions of Lilywhites range from “please, no” to “ridiculous” and, then, rather less polite comments. Who can blame them? Carroll makes Vincent Janssen look mobile and pacy, has a dreadful injury record and a lifestyle that has ensured he has never made the most of a talent that once secured him a £35million transfer to Liverpool. As a battering ram front man, Carroll is certainly a useful weapon to teams chasing a goal in the last 10 minutes, but Tottenham already have Fernando Llorente. No wonder they are worried about this transfer link.

It’s got to be up there with ‘Freddie Starr ate my hamster’ headline for a pure fabrication.

This is ridiculous. He’s played like 2 games in 5 years. Parrot plays before we sign Carroll.
