OPINION

With his fourth goal in three matches since the winter break, Scott Sinclair is providing the ideal advertisement for the benefits of three weeks off at the start of the year. The winger put the gloss on Celtic’s second league win of the week with their third goal in the 3-0 home win against Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. It was his eighth goal in his last seven matches in all competitions and 13th of the season, not bad for a player who is supposedly a shadow of his former self. Given his talent and potent mixture of pace, skill and touch, Celtic fans expect more of Sinclair than almost anyone else in their side. In truth, he has underperformed over the last year, and has rightfully lost his nailed-on starting role. But, Brendan Rodgers will have to wedge the 29-year-old out of the team with all chisel and hammer if he turns this mini purple patch into an extended one. No wonder Bhoys were drooling on social media.
