Wolves are in the hunt to sign Sporting Braga striker Francisco Antonio Trincao for £13.5million, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim the Molineux club hope their “close relationship” with the forward’s agent Jorge Mendes can “sway things in their favour” amid competing interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.

The Sun report Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo “rates the striker very highly” and hopes the club, through sporting director Kevin Thelwell, can do a deal.

Good move for Wolves?

It could take some time for Trincao to make a real impact at Wolves, given that he has made only two appearances for Portugese top-flight outfit Braga and is still only 19. That said, the word is Wolves manager Nuno is a big admirer of the rising star and believes he has the potential to make it a first-team level in the Premier League. Given the Portugese’s understanding of the market in his homeland, that suggests it could be a major coup if Wolves can blow away the Serie A big guns to sign the Portugal Under-20 international.

Likely to happen?

Given Mendes’ power and Wolves’ bosom-buddy relationship with the all-powerful agent and the number of Portugese players he has helped them sign in recent years, there has to be a very good chance of this deal going through. As the world and his wife knows, the Molineux club are in need of at least one new forward in January, even though it appears Trinaco is one for the future.
