Leeds United are willing to wait for their chance to try and sign Hoffenheim’s Steven Zuber as the German side slap a £10.8million valuation on his head, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their website that the eight figure fee placed on the Swiss international’s head is out of reach for Marcelo Bielsa’s men but that they are hoping that being patient will see the price reduce before the end of January or see the Bundesliga outfit green light a loan exit, with the club said to be open to offers for the 21-cap star.

Able to play anywhere in the midfield, Zuber has been limited to just 13 appearances this season, three of which have come in their Champions League campaign.

Good move for Leeds?

This would be one massive coup for the Elland Road faithful and a move which would see their chances of securing top spot in the Championship skyrocket.

His experience among Europe’s elite would put him head and shoulders above what the rest of the English second tier have to offer and he would likely be playing with the promise of a permanent move if he can help Leeds reach the Premier League.

Obviously the asking price pushes him out of Leeds’ reach for now but a loan deal would be a worthwhile move and Bielsa will be hoping that Hoffenheim get desperate in their attempts to ship him out.

Likely to happen?

Is this a realistic move, or is it just a pipe dream?

Unfortunately it probably falls under the latter, with Zuber unlikely to want to make that massive drop from Champions League to Championship.

It is a sign of serious ambition from the Whites, but perhaps not one that will come to fruition until the summer.
