Aston Villa loan star Tammy Abraham will not be sold by Chelsea this month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster has claimed that Wolves are hoping to sign the 21-year-old forward in the January transfer window and had held talks with Chelsea on Wednesday.

It is understood that Dean Smith is keen to see Abraham complete his season-long loan at Villa Park, but the in-form striker is attracting attention from across the Premier League.

The Sun reported on Wednesday that Chelsea accepted Wolves’ £18million bid for Abraham.

OPINION

This is very good news for Aston Villa. Abraham has been their key player this season, scoring 16 goals in 20 Championship appearances and without him the club would be much lower down the table. Smith has a big job on his hands to try and get the side back into the Premier League this season and while they have an outside chance at the moment, there would be no chance at all if Chelsea were to recall Abraham and let him join Wolves. It makes a lot of sense for Chelsea to wait out his loan before cashing in on him anyway. He is scoring goals for fun at Villa Park and if he carries on doing that in the second-half of the season then his transfer value will only rise. If they cash in on him now they will not get as much money. It wouldn’t be a shock if Wolves manage to sign Abraham in the summer, but it just doesn’t seem likely to happen this month thanks to this Sky Sports update.
