West Brom loan out four players

|

West Brom are set to loan out four youth players this month in order to aid their development.

The Baggies made the announcement via their official website on Friday morning.

Goalkeeper Adam Przybek will join Russell Olympic until February, while Nick Clayton-Phillips will link up with nearby National League North side Kidderminster Harriers until the end of the season.

Kyle Jameson and Callum Morton, who were due to return to the Hawthorns this January and have spent the first half of the season with Barrow and Braintree respectively, will be allowed to remain with their current clubs until the end of the campaign.

OPINION

West Brom know first-hand how effective a loan can be for both player and club following the runaway success of Harvey Barnes at the Hawthorns from Leicester City this season. Although that hasn’t ended well. While aspirations of unearthing another Barnes may be a tad ambitious, allowing their young players to go an play in the lower reaches of the footballing pyramid will at the very least give them a taste of the intensity of proper competitive football and keep fitness levels high. The Baggies will know that in their current position youth could become an integral part of their set up, and encouraging talented academy graduates to go out and find first team opportunities is the best way to makes sure that these players thrive if and when they are finally given the chance to prove themselves. There’s a lot to be said for a good loan deal, and non-league football might be one of the steepest learning curves of all.
