Aston Villa are set to terminate Yannick Bolasie’s loan deal with the club and send him back to Premier League side Everton, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that Villa have been paying all of the 29-year-old’s £70,000-a-week wages while he has been in the West Midlands, but Dean Smith has now decided that he wants him gone.

Bolasie has made just nine league starts for Aston Villa since joining the club on a season-long loan in the summer when Steve Bruce was still in charge.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Bolasie is probably one of the top-earning players in the Championship, so to justify that he needs to be one of the best players in the league and also playing every week.

He has really struggled to make an impact at Villa Park, so it makes sense to end this agreement earlier so that Smith can use the money freed up from his wages to buy a better replacement.

Bolasie is not likely to get much football back at Everton, so you can expect him to be on the move again before the end of the month.

Likely to happen?

The Telegraph’s report suggests that Bolasie will return to Everton this week, so be surprised if this doesn’t happen.

Aston Villa haven’t improved that much since Smith took over, so this is a big attempt to free up the wagebill and strengthen the squad where it really matters before the end of the month.

Villa can’t afford passengers, and Bolasie is a very expensive passenger.
