Javier Hernandez wants to leave West Ham this month after Valencia tabled a loan-to-buy offer for the Mexico international, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning that the Spanish side’s opening offer was a loan, which included the option to sign Hernandez, 30, permanently for £13million in the summer transfer window.

It is understood that Valencia could yet table another bid for the ex-Manchester United striker to sign him on a permanent basis.

Good move for West Ham?

Hernandez has blown hot and cold since joining West Ham from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017.

He has made 49 appearances in all competitions but scored just 13 goals, which for a striker with his CV and his transfer value, is not good enough at all.

Manuel Pellegrini should definitely consider cashing in on Hernandez this month, but only if he doesn’t lose Marko Arnautovic as well, because the Austrian has been widely linked with a move to China.

Replacing both Hernandez and Arnautovic could be a very hard – and expensive – thing to do in the January window.

Likely to happen?

It surely all depends on Arnautovic and whether he leaves this month.

Both forwards seem to want to leave West Ham, which is not good news for Pellegrini, but it’s hard to see him cashing in on Hernandez if Arnautovic goes.

The Austrian will fetch more money while it seems that the fee for Hernandez is a lot lower.
