Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Thorgan Hazard in the January transfer window.

Bleacher Report has claimed that the 25-year-old is on the radar of Spurs and his former club Chelsea, but at the moment, it is Borussia Dortmund who are leading the chase for his signature.

Hazard has been in sensational form for Monchengladbach this season.

The Belgium international, who is brother of Chelsea star Eden, has scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in 19 appearances across all competitions for the German side, so it is no surprise to see that he is attracting attention from the Premier League.

Spurs do have some good attacking options in their side and Hazard does play in similar roles to someone like Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, but his form in Germany means that the London club simply cannot pass up on an opportunity to sign someone who could lift their squad up to another level.

Tottenham have already been linked with one attacker this month, Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs may have to splash £20million to sign someone who is playing in the Championship – so wouldn’t that money be better spent on someone like Hazard? He is tearing up one of Europe’s biggest leagues, has past connections to London and is regular for the Belgium nation team.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would seal an absolute masterstroke of a signing if he was able to negotiate a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach for their in-form attacker.

It will more than likely cost a large sum of money, but he would be worth every penny and one day he could be worth even more than that given the way some of Chelsea’s former players go on to become superstars.
