Tottenham are not interested in signing West Ham forward Andy Carroll, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sun has recently reported that Spurs are eyeing up the 29-year-old as a shock replacement for the injured Harry Kane, with claims that a £2million switch across London could have been on the cards.

However Sheth, speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday night [07:24pm], ruled out any kind of Tottenham interest in the West Ham target man.

“We are told there is no interest in the West ham striker Andy Carroll,” he said.

That will be a massive relief for Tottenham. Even though Carroll could have been available for such a low price, he simply wouldn’t have been worth it when Kane will be back in action in March. It might just be £2million – a drop in the pond for most Premier League clubs – Daniel Levy would not spend that sort of money on someone who will effectively play just for a matter of weeks. And even if he does come in to play, the chances of Carroll getting injured are very high. Fernando Llorente is no worse than Carroll and Spurs have youngster Kazaiah Sterling waiting on the wings to play if needs be. Heung-min Son will also be back from the Asian Cup in a few weeks, so moving for Carroll would have been a terrible idea. If Spurs have £2million to spend then it should go towards unearthing another gem.
