Opinion

Going from working with the youngest of teenagers to being in charge of the under-18 side is quite a step up but it appears as though the Gers have the utmost faith in Thomson and his abilities. He obviously knows what it means to be part of the club, having won two titles during his playing career at Ibrox and with the Light Blues having established a reputation of developing young talents ready for their first team, they will be hoping that Thomson can have an influence on the next generation of starlets. At 34 he is considered a young coach and so will be able to identify more with the youngsters, not to mention know exactly what they are going through after his own playing time in Glasgow. He could really become an integral part of the backroom staff at Ibrox and looks to be a smart appointment from the Gers.
