With Rangers having got plenty of their business done before the end of January deadline day was expected to be a quiet one for the Light Blues.

However, while there might not have been any new arrivals in the lead up to the final hours of the transfer market there was one departure at Ibrox as young midfielder Jordan Rossiter headed out on loan, joining English League Two side Bury until the end of the season.

The former Liverpool man is highly rated by the Gers and has made a handful of appearances for the first team but serious injury problems have plagued his career at the club and he has seen himself slide down to near the bottom of the pecking order under Steven Gerrard.

The hopes will be that this loan deal can reinvigorate Rossiter’s career with some regular playing time – but if the English fourth tier is all he can handle then his future at the club is looking bleak.

Not only is there plenty of talent already in his way at Ibrox, with the likes of Steven Davis, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Lassana Coulibaly all ahead of him in the first team, there is another man also out on loan who is starring at a level above where Rossiter will be playing in the shape of Greg Docherty.

How on earth is Rossiter going to make his way past all this talent, with a mix of youth and experience blocking his path to the senior side, by playing in League Two?

The answer is he probably is not and the level of football he has been shipped out on loan to signifies that.
